Another time I brought my little dog in because he had a hard time peeing and had little stones that needed to be removed, but was otherwise healthy. This vet had the nerve to tell me that it was $4000 upfront for the surgery and when I explained I didn't have that his suggestion was to either leave my dog that way (in pain) or to put him to euthanize him! Are you kidding me! I went down to another vet who only charged me $1500 for same surgery. The sad thing is if I hadn't checked with another vet and had not been knowledgeable like some other people, somebody may have put their dog to sleep or left it in pain unnecessarily because of this doctor and I just didn't find the staff as friendly as other places. So I would definitely NOT recommend this place.
For those who complain about prices I would suggest pet health insurance. They also have vaccination clinics where you pay for just the vaccine and not a doctors visit.
One time I brought my German Shepherd in to be put to sleep and I brought her blanket which I told them to wrap around her when they brought her out to me and they absolutely devastated and angered me when they brought my dog out in a TRASH BAG! and the other girl was holding the blanket in her hands, then they just THREW my dog in the back of my car like it was trash when this is my baby! I called and spoke to a supervisor who's excuse was that the staff becomes more "calloused" because they have to deal with it often. I don't care what reason or what excuse, don't EVER treat somebody's baby like it's a piece of trash!
In all things you get what you pay for. I won't pinch pennies in order to get inferior services.
I have had several bad experiences and do NOT suggest this place at all!
The vets are great, no problems. The young ladies who answer the phone/run the appointment desk, etc., are POOR representatives of their employers. Rude and abrupt. I'll leave it at that.
We have been going to Dr Ehrman for a number of years. We are on our second Great Dane. The front desk is professional and friendly. Dr Ehrman is knowledgeable and explains every part of treatment, not leaving until all our questions are answered. He readily refers us to specialist. Our first boy Monty had cataracts and he referred us to Dr Silvia in Camarillo who performed cataract surgery. It's not about the money, but making sure our fur-kid gets the best treatment. Sadly Monty died from bone cancer. Our second Great Dane Baron goes to Dr Ehrman now. I highly recommend Saugus Animal Hospital to everyone. There are a number of doctors practicing there, and the hours are liberal, so it's easy to get in.
Nice staff and friendly upfront doctor. Very refreshing for our sick puppy!
Needed to bring in my lab/mix dog who was in distress from swollen lymph nodes and they took her in right away! Staff was kind and courteous as well as the doctor. Thank you for taking care of her. We appreciate it so much. She was family.
