He said that no, my alternator was fine and that I just need to start/run my vehicle at least twice a week.
I will be contacting AAA asking them to not list this business as a "AAA approved facility" and also be taking this matter to the media.
I understand that people are in business to make money however, ripping people off is bad business...don't go here.
These guys are the ultimate scam artists! DO NOT GO HERE! I broke down on the 14 freeway (obvious alternator issue) and by the suggestion by AAA, towed it to this place. Had to wait until morning since they were already closed. Talked to some guy, telling me they charge $65 to diagnose the car. Tell him its the alternator but they still want to charge me (will waive the fee if I have repair done there) so I agree. 15 minutes later, he calls me back to tell me its the alternator (duh). Says it will cost $400 to repair!! $400!!! For an alternator?!?! So now I have to tow the car again and pay this "mechanic" $65 for nothing. Nice racket.
As a business owner myself, I understand the weight of a positive and a negative review. Long story short...AAA referred me here to get my smog test done. I had my SUV towed here...the individual that came out (that I spoke to several times over the phone and seemed nice and professional) to assist me brought out a battery charger...charged it for @ 4 to 5 minutes and said that my battery was not holding a charge and that I needed a new alternator. He said that they would install a new one for $375.

Something did not feel right so I called AAA again, explained to them the situation and mentioned that my battery was dead...not holding a charge. They dispatched someone that came out and replaced the battery...during the removal and installation process I mentioned to the AAA dispatched rep that an individual from the shop said that I need a new alternator and asked the AAA dispatched representative to test it to see if their claims were true...
I had catastrophic engine failure coming down interstate 5 and ended up having my vehicle towed to Lyon's Auto. Long story short I ended up selling my vehicle to Harry, on good faith that he would mail the check. He certainly did. Good, honest people at Lyon's Auto.
After getting the new battery installed my SUV started just fine...I then called AAA again asking them to give me a new referral for an approved smog facility since my experience here was not satisfactory.
I never ever leave reviews. EVER! I had such a good experience here I had to create an account. After my car broke down it was towed to Lyons. I have never been to such a beautiful shop with such friendly folks. The crew was actually able to get be back on the road to SB on he same day . Thanks again guys!
Harry is so trustworthy and reliable. Love this place and it's hard to say that you love a mechanic... ever! But when I moved here 4 years ago, I thought I'd never find a place as awesome as my old shop. I found this shop on Yelp with so many amazing reviews and I have been happily coming here ever since. Never disappointed! Thanks Harry!
